Hunan Retail, Catering Sales Surge During National Day Holiday

National Day holiday period sales volume for 587 retail and catering enterprises included in Hunan monitoring system grew by 10.2% over last year. The provincial consumer goods market was in good order during the golden week. This information was released by the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce on October 7, 2018.
Daily necessities prices remained stable. Transportation and various supply-guaranteeing measures were adequate, thanks to the fine weather conditions during the holiday. Price monitoring of 86 major daily necessities in the province, showed there were sufficient supplies of grain, oil, meat, vegetables, eggs, and milk.
Shopping mall and supermarket sales volumes increased. The provincial commercial and trade circulation enterprises took advantage of business opportunities by adopting various measures to promote and create a festive atmosphere. Most of the monitored companies saw a rise in sales volume.
Public catering consumption surged. The National Day holiday is a popular time for weddings, family reunions, and get-togethers. Popular catering business such as diners and wedding banquets were booming. Local specialty brands business such as the Changsha Fire Palace and other star restaurants also flourished. The number of receptions went up significantly compared with last year. “Internet hit” catering stores, including the Hu’s Deep-fry Snacks and the Wenheyou-Ancient Changsha Snack Store, were packed with foodies.
