Governor Xu Meets with Guests Attending China Food & Catering Expo 2018

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe met in Changsha with guests attending the China Food & Catering Expo 2018 on September 12. They are among the Pacific Island countries delegation and the Caribbean States delegation. The former includes Tau’aika ’Uta’atu, Tongan ambassador to China; Carlson D. Apis, Micronesia ambassador to China; and Dennis Nai N. Y., Vanuatu ambassador to China. The later includes Cherett Campbell, Jamaica diplomatic officer to China.
Governor Xu welcomed the guests coming from afar and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Hunan. He said, “The grand scale and high level of the First ‘China Food & Catering Expo’ has attracted a lot of exhibitors, and our dear guests, ambassadors, to participate in. It will promote cooperation and exchange between Hunan and your countries and enhance the well-being of the peoples.” He continued, “Hunan has profound cultural heritage, excellent natural ecology, convenient transportation, long history of rice culture, and world-famous hybrid rice. It boasts great strength in engineering machinery, rail transit, and food processing industries.” “I hope this expo will be an opportunity to deepen communication and collaboration between Hunan and the countries where the guests are from. We may enhance partnership in such fields as economy and trade, manufacturing, tourism, culture, and education, to work together for mutual benefits and win-win results. I believe we could jointly promote the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and share development achievements and enhance the people's well-being,” he added.
Tongan ambassador remarked that the expo would help China and foreign countries to exchange catering culture and enhance industrial cooperation. The Pacific Island countries have huge cooperation potential with Hunan. He noted, “We would like to take this opportunity to strengthen cooperation mechanisms and expand cooperation channels with Hunan. Both sides may expand collaboration in the fields of food and beverage, economy and trade, and cultural tourism.”
Li Chenggang, member of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Commerce and assistant minister; Hu Henghua, CPC Hunan Provincial Standing Committee member and CPC Changsha Municipal Committee secretary; Hunan Vice Governor He Baoxiang; and, Secretary General Wang Qun also attended.
