Governor Xu Visits Finland to Promote Hunan-Finland Co-op

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe visited Finland between July 13 and 15, 2017, to promote Hunan-Finland cooperation in the “Belt and Road” Initiative efforts.

Governor Xu went to the Northern Europe & Hunan Agriculture Industrial Park in Kouvola, Kymenlaakso region. He met with the Kymenlaakso Parliament President and congress member at the Hunan-Finland Exchange and Cooperation Meeting, and signed a province-region cooperation agreement. He also witnessed some Hunan and Finnish companies reaching cooperation agreements.

Xu hoped that Hunan and Finland will, under the cooperation agreement, enhance governmental communication and visits, to support non-governmental and company cooperation. Beyond that, resource, industrial, and technological advantages should be used to promote bilateral cooperation in ecological agriculture; environmental protection; sci-tech innovation; economic and trade; logistics; culture; and, tourism.

Xu met with Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Jari Leppä, and discussed agriculture and forestry cooperation, scientific research, and, talent exchange. Jari Leppä spoke highly of Hunan’s integration of economic development and ecological management, and expected a complete match-making system for sustainable cooperation and Hunan-Finland friendship.

Governor Xu aslo met with Finnish Park, Wildlife and Plants administrator, and visited Nuuksio National Park. He learnt about forest management mechanism, wildlife and plant protection measures, and forest development and technology, and attended the cooperation agreement signing ceremony between Hunan Forestry Department and the Finnish counterpart.
