Random Inspection of Hunan Government Websites Achieves 100% Pass Rate

Hunan Provincial Government Website Construction Work Conference was held on March 14, 2017. Vice Governor and Secretary General Yang Guangrong called for further promoting “top government website” construction to better serve the people.

After two years’ rectification and improvement, the number of government websites in Hunan has been reduced from 4,188, counted before census, to 880 independently operated ones. The intensive rate reached 78%. Information released on Hunan’s provincial, municipal, and county-level government portals amounted to more than two million annually. The Hunan Provincial People’s Government Website ( has become No.1 e-government information disclosure platform. The website welcomed more than 96 million visitors last year.

Yang spoke highly of Hunan’s achievements in government website development in recent years. He pointed out that government website has become an important governance platform thanks to the rapid development of information technology. Departments at all levels should effectively strengthen the political responsibilities of their government websites, accurately comprehend the policy, orientation, legitimacy, and serious requirements to lead public opinion and information safety. It’s important to actively promote government website innovative development, and pay greater attention to the public concerns. Efforts should be made in accelerating government websites intensive construction, improving the three functions of releasing e-government administrative information, doing services for the public, and playing an active role in interaction, and continuously promoting “five publicities” of governmental decision-making, administration, implementation, service, and results. He also emphasized the necessity of enhancing organization and leadership, team building, supervision, and assessment.
