The 40-day Spring Festival travel rush (Chunyun) started January 21, 2019. During Chunyun, it is estimated that the 18 high-speed railway stations in Hunan will have 7.48 million passengers, an increase of 8.7% over last year. The Changsha Railway Station is expected to have more than 2 million passengers, up 13.4%.
According to the Changsha South Railway Station, during the Spring Festival holiday, high-speed railway passenger peak flow will last from February 7 to 23. More than 3.9 million passengers are expected to choose high-speed railway, an increase of 9.2%.
The Changsha Railway Station predicted that the number of passengers travelling the Shimen-Changsha and the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan intercity railway will increase substantially. There are 8 new long-distance trains, including 4 between Changsha and Changde, and 4 between Changsha and Shimen, operating during the Chunyun period. Specific operation times of these temporary trains is subject to the 12306 China Railway website or station announcements.
The Changsha South Railway Station opens expressways at exits to facilitate passenger transfers to the subway without further security checks.
The Changsha Railway Station has offered its “Kexintong” passenger service. When passengers over 65 years old pass through the gates at the entrances, handheld terminals reminder the stationmasters on duty. They will then guide these passengers to key passenger waiting rooms. A Lei Feng (Lei Feng is a cultural icon representing earnestness and service.) service team will then help them board the train. This is called “targeted service for passengers in need.”
