Hunan Wins 27 National Top Science and Technology Awards

An annual ceremony for China’s top science and technology awards was held in Beijing on January 8, 2019. Seven distinguished scientists and engineers, and 278 research projects were awarded. 
Hunan has 27 projects awarded for their achievements in natural science, technology invention, and sci-tech progress. 
Chinese engineering academician He Jishan’s project, “great-depth and high-precision wide field electromagnetic sounding technology and equipment”, won the first prize in national technology invention awards. The Central South University (CSU)’s research team on aerodynamic and crash safety technology for rail transit, and Hunan University (HNU)’s team on electrical energy conversion and control, both won the first prizes in national sci-tech progress awards (for innovative teams). The National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) also won a first prize in national sci-tech progress awards. 
Data shows that, CSU was granted with 7 national awards for its individual research, and 3 for its cooperative projects, ranking third among Chinese universities; NUDT won 4 national awards; HNU won 2 awards; and, Hunan Normal University and Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT) each won one award.
