Recently, Forbes China released a list of the top 100 Best Commercial Cities in Chinese Mainland 2018. Five cities in Hunan were included. Changsha moved up one place over last year to 14th, and ranked 8th among provincial capitals. Zhuzhou, Hengyang, Liuyang, and Yueyang ranked 63rd, 77th, 91st, and 94th respectively.

Forbes China has published the list since 2004, aiming to find cities suitable for business development and quality of life using eight indexes, including talent, city size, consumption power, and innovation.

“Changsha’s consumption power index is supported by its constantly improving business system and facilities, consumption atmosphere, regional consumption attraction, and household income.” According to the relevant person in charge of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Changsha has become a “center of gravity” in central China where people, logistics, and capital flow converge. Large shopping malls such as International Finance Square, Better Life Meixi Xintiandi, Outlets of Hunan Friendship & Apollo, and Taskin have bloomed around the city. The constantly upgraded urban-rural quality and commercial places make people love to consume and want to consume.

Boosted by a favorable business environment, vibrant private economy, and great atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship, Liuyang saw a rise in commercial competitiveness. Liuyang ranked 91st this year, marking its second time to enter the top 100. It is the only county-level city in Hunan and the central and western regions to be included in the top 100.
