The Press Office of the Hunan Provincial Government convened a press conference on Blue Book of Hunan 2018 on May 28. According to the Hunan Development Research Center, Hunan has continuously optimized its economic structure, and maintained a steady growth for economic development, with an expected GDP growth of 7.9% in the first half of 2018.

Deputy Director of the Hunan Development Research Center Tang Yuwen introduced that Hunan GDP in the first quarter of 2018 has increased by 8.0%, a year-on-year growth of 0.6%, the same with that of last year, which has laid a solid foundation for the yearly economic trend. From the view of major economic indicators, Hunan has accelerated its growth in industry, consumption and foreign capital, maintained a rapid growth in export, and improved the people's livelihood in the first quarter.

The Center suggested that for the next stage, Hunan should further deepen the reform of streamlining administration, delegating powers, and improving regulation and services, equally protect all kinds of property rights in accordance with the law, and further optimize business environment. Hunan should also make full use the “Five 100” program to actively expand effective industrial investment. Great efforts should be exerted to further activate private investment and guide it to be more real. Hunan should accelerate the development of emerging consumption via centering on its hotspots including information, tourism, culture, sports, health, old-age care, education and training, and open wider to the outside world to attract investment and comprehensively improve its openness.
