Hunan to Invest 200 Bln CNY in Key Projects

The Hunan Development and Reform Work Conference convened on January 8, 2018. It announced that Hunan would emphasize industrial development in support of sustained and sound economic and social advancement. The province plans to invest 196 billion CNY in 192 key projects.

More than 74.8 billion CYN will be injected into 104 modern industrial projects which include high-end equipment manufacturing, electronic information, and biological medicine. In 2018, the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone will build a magnetic levitation equipment industrial park and a JD self-driving car intelligent industrial base. Hengyang Songmu Industrial Park will build a BYD rail traffic intelligent manufacturing industrial park.

More than 85.5 billion CNY will go to 55 infrastructure projects including railway, expressway, and airport construction. The following projects, among others, will be launched this year: a connecting line between the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway and the Shimen-Changsha Railway, the Chenzhou Beihu Airport, the Xiangxi Airport, and the second phase of the Xiangtan-Shaoyang Expressway overhaul.

Hunan Development and Reform Commission Director Hu Weilin said that, "Hunan will promote industrial development in 2018, develop a number of industrial parks featuring advanced energy storage materials, electric vehicles, 3D printing, and robots, so as to build 2 to 3 national development zones." Hu added, "Hunan will build a modern industrial system by developing 100 key industrial projects; 100 scientific and technological innovation projects; 100 key innovative products; and introducing 100 top 500 enterprises, and 100 scientific and technological innovation talents."
