The Changsha Huanghua International Airport on Sept. 6 announced that, during this summer vacation (from July 1 to Aug. 31), the passenger volume reached a record high of 4.31 million, increasing by 8.1% over the same period of last year.

The hottest destinations included Beijing, Haikou, Chongqing, Sanya, and Xiamen. Passengers traveling from Changsha to Beijing reached 148,000, and those to Shanghai were 128,000, both growing rapidly.

The Hunan Airport Management Group strengthened collaboration with the airlines to develop business and optimize flights. The overnight flights in the Changsha Huanghua International Airport increased from 32 to 45. More international flights have been open, such as Changsha to Cairo, Aswan, Ho Chi Minh City, Batam, and Sabah; and the flights to hot domestic destinations, including Shanri-La, Jiuzhai, Qinghuangdao, Dunhuang, Baoshan, and Lianyungang.

In order to better serve the passengers, the airport innovates in "smart airport" construction. It has built 18 new intelligent inspection lanes, and 12 self-service ones. "Face swiping" check-in system, and 60 self-check-in equipment have been put into operation. Beyond that, it takes the lead in China in implementing paperless customs clearance.
