Hunan Foreign Trade Grew By 25.1% in First Three Quarters

Hunan's total import and export value was 207.6 billion CNY in the first three quarters, an increase of 25.1% over the same period last year. The statistics was released by Changsha Customs on October 15, 2018. The growth rate of foreign trade with the "Belt and Road" countries was 17.6 percentage points higher than that of the provincial average. The import of consumer goods nearly doubled.
 
Between January and September, the provincial export reached 130.34 billion CNY, grew by 23.1%; and the import valued 77.26 billion CNY, up 28.5%. Hong Kong, the United States, the European Union, and the ASEAN countries were Hunan's major trading partners.
 
Hunan's foreign trade products are mainly electromechanical ones. The export was worth 57.01 billion CNY, accounting for 43.7% of the provincial total export value; the imported ones valued 33.28 billion CNY, up 24.5% and accounting for 43.1% of the provincial total import value.
 
In the first three quarters, the total import and export volume of Hunan Province with the "Belt and Road" countries reached 53.56 billion CNY, thanks to the continuously deepened cooperation with them. This was an increase of 42.7% and was 17.6 percentage points higher than the provincial foreign trade growth rate. Demand for the consumer goods was high, with imports of consumer goods reaching 6.34 billion CNY in the first three quarters, an increase of 96%. Among them, imported meat was 1.89 billion CNY, up 79.5%; and imported aquatic and seafood products were 480 million CNY, an increase of 6.7 times.
