The imported consumer goods of Hunan Province has achieved a year-on-year increase for 13 consecutive months till this January, according to the statistics provided by the Changsha Customs on March 6, 2018.

It was learnt from the Changsha Customs that the imports of consumer goods in Hunan Province was 750 million CNY in January 2018, up 190% over the same period last year. Meat, fruits and nuts, and electronic appliances ranked the top 3 in terms of import value, seeing a significant growth. The imported consumer goods from developed countries, such as those in Europe, and the United States increased rapidly. New Zealand was the largest trading partner.

According to the Changsha Custom’s analysis, the overall scale of the consumer goods demand expanded, and the upgraded consumption level and concept stimulated the import consumption boom. The import tariffs on consumer goods were greatly decreased, and the favorable prices also stirred up the growth of imports. Besides, the Spring Festival Golden Week also brought out foreign commodity consumption. Thanks to the popularity of cross-border e-commerce markets, the ration of the overseas goods consumption in that of traditional Spring Festival commodities reached 63%.

Moreover, fresh milk imports at the Changsha airport increased nearly 3 times in January and February 2018, according to the Hunan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine.
