The Hunan Provincial Commerce Department announced the provincial daily necessities supply conditions on July 5, 2017. It said the average wholesale price of vegetables remained stable, while the retail price slightly increased by less than 4%.

Between June 28 and July 4, the average retail price of vegetables was 6.07 yuan per kilogram, up 1.17% compared with the previous week. Among the 30 specially monitored varieties of vegetables, rapeseed and lettuce prices were up 8.46% and 8.06% respectively while others fluctuated within 4%.

The Department remarked that due to heavy rains, the provincial government has launched the contingency plans beforehand. The vegetable supply channels were expanded to guarantee price stability during the waterlogging period. Affected by the floods, the local vegetable supply in the near future will substantially decrease but mainly rely on the purchase from other provinces. The vegetable prices are expected to surge later.

According to the provincial monitoring data from June 28 to July 4, the prices of daily necessities generally maintained stable; vegetables, aquatic products, and dairy increased, bottled edible oil, meat, eggs, fruits, and drinking water decreased, and those of grain, poultry, and salt were flat.
