The province now has seven national-level and fifteen provincial-level high-tech zones, whose integrated advantages became further prominent. In specific, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan National Self-dependent Innovation Demonstration Zone has achieved a value added of over 195 billion yuan in high-tech industry sector last year, up 18% year on year and accounting for nearly 30% of the total. As for the number of enterprises, there have been 870 newly authorized high-tech enterprises in Hunan last year, making the total number exceed 2,000 for the first time to 2212.
This year the province will promote the upgrading of high-tech zones, as was learnt from the Department. It was intended to cultivate and recommend two to three provincial-level ones to be elevated to national level, and guide and support a batch of provincial-level industrial parks, economic development zones, and city and county-level development zones transformed into high-tech zones. It was expected that the proportion of high-tech industry added value to GDP will increase by more than 1.5 percentage points yearly, and the total number of high-tech enterprises in the province will be up to 2,600.
