A conference on deepening comprehensive reform of supply and marketing cooperatives was held on Feb. 28. 2017. Hunan’s supply and marketing system, as a new way to promote agricultural modernization, has improved its ability to serve farmers and became the dominant force in economic and social development in rural areas.
In 2016, the profits of Hunan’s supply and marketing system reached over 1.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%. Hunan ranked fifth in China in terms of comprehensive performance made by supply and marketing system.
Up till the end of 2016, the number of grassroots-level cooperatives in Hunan totaled 1,771; and the number of comprehensive service cooperatives at village level stood at 22900.
The sales revenue achieved through e-commerce in Hunan’s supply and marketing system amounted to 5.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 323.5%
There are 43 provincial and ministerial-level leading enterprises that are implementing agriculture industrialization in the system. These enterprises have helped the establishment of 708 farmers' cooperatives, benefiting nearly 2 million households and developing 5 million mu (about 333,333 hectares) of bases.
