Hunan Province achieved an import and export value of 8.73 billion yuan on agricultural products in the first eleven months of this year, up 16.2% year on year. Of which, the exports volume amounted to 5.94 billion yuan, increasing at a growth rate of 4.9%, and the imports 2.79 billion yuan, an increase of 51.5%, according to the statistics released by the Changsha Customs on Dec. 20, 2016.
In the past eleven months, the province’s imported and exported agricultural products to the ASEAN countries witnessed gratifying gains, with an export value surging to 1.53 billion yuan, a sharp increase of 78.3%. Among which, the foreign trade volume to Thailand and Vietnam increased by 1.6 times and 1.1 times respectively.
As for the kind of exported agricultural products, frozen pork, meat and offal, plant juice and extraction, green tea, sausage, cigarettes, and canned citrus accounted for nearly half of the total export value.
Besides, the import value of infant milk powder reached 640 million yuan, an increase of more than 70% among all the imported agricultural products.
Hunan, aided by leading enterprises to build brand reputation, saw boosted exports of agricultural products despite the general decreasing trend this year. Changsha Customs suggested Hunan agricultural enterprises to create the added value of their agricultural exports, accelerate sci-tech transformation and innovation, to further consolidate the brand impact while continue cultivating and expanding the new brand, as well as enhance the competitive strength of their agricultural products.
