Qiaoli in Jingzhou is located at the border between southeastern Hunan and Guizhou Province, where nearly 20, 000 Miao people live. The Miao ethnic in Qiaoli owns a long history and its people are studious, honest, bright and unconstrained. They have long been known for their optimistic and healthy attitude towards life of "Food to Keep Fitness, Songs to Nurture Soul". Songs are the records of Qiaoli Miao’s daily life, an important carrier for emotional and social communication and  cultural transmission and even an indispensable part of their daily life. Songs of Miao ethnic in Jingzhou falls into tunes of Tea Song, Wine Song, Rice Song, Folk Song, Water-carrying Song and Tri-tone Song in terms of style, melody, content, ways of singing and custom. The features of its tonality and interval differentiate from both folk songs of Miao in other places and those of Dong or Han nearby. Songs are always closely linked to Miao's custom.
