Zhou Qifeng

Zhou Qifeng, a prominent chemist and educationist in China, was born in Liuyang on Nov. 20, 1947. He has being devoted in polymer synthesis and liquid crystal polymer researches and been elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) since 1999, and also a professor and doctoral supervisor.

 

Zhou was an undergraduate student in Peking University from 1965 to 1970, and became a faculty member immediately after his graduation in 1970. He was studying in University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1980 to 1983 and returned to Peking University after receiving his PhD degree.

 

He took up the position of president of Jilin University from 2004 to 2008 and then was transferred to be the president of Peking University until 2013. He was selected vice chairman of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
